Lights Out, Everybody: Mystery and Horror in the Golden Age of Radio with Steve Darnall

Everybody loves a good scare now and then — and when it comes to terror, there’s nothing more evocative than “the fear you can hear.” This presentation uses sound clips from some of radio’s best-known mystery and horror series (with samples from Escape, Inner Sanctum, Lights Out and the voice of Orson Welles) to illustrate how radio could use music, voices and sounds to create indelible and often
